The ARB Outback 4x4 Extreme is held over a week of tough competition, around the gateway to the outback, Broken Hill in New South Wales, Australia.

Competitive stages are held over giant sand dunes, rock strewn gorges, thick and gluey mud, deep river crossings and in choking dust. Endurance, navigation and winching skills are also put to the test. Teams have to demonstrate vehicle recovery and navigation skills. It’s not just about driving quickly.

The Special stages are designed to emulate tough Outback driving conditions so it’s a true test of driving skills. The personalities of the teams emerge in each event.

The ARB Outback 4x4 Extreme 2011 began a new era for offroad competition in the Broken Hill region.
Seven days of competition saw high speed night sand at Nine Mile, rocks at Mt Gipps, rally stages at Avondale and the mud at Rochdale testing local and international teams to the limit.
Over 2 hours of action captured by the teams from 4wdtv and Through the Gears with 8 bonus feature stories.
